Annual Conference in Jordan - July 29, 2010

Dear Trustees, Executive Directors, Office Bearers of Member Institutes, CMC and non-CMC members,

Greetings from ICMCI. We are absolutely delighted that there have been an unusually high number of registrations for the forthcoming Annual Conference of ICMCI at Jordan.

As you know that the ICMCI conferences are normally a space where we look at the things we do both internally to ICMCI, as well as in the realm of networking with external agencies.
This conference at Jordan is expected to consider, discuss and take decisions on the exciting Breakthrough Strategy Group recommendations in addition to the usual business of taking the work of ICMCI forward.  Your participation in the event will ensure that there is space for you to have a say in the future of ICMCI.

Do register for the event if you have not done so already, and be there to make a difference.

The early bird discount is extended to 5 August 2010, so do take advantage of the situation.

For your information the brochure to download.

We are looking forward to greeting you all at Jordan.

Briefing Note 4 - Getting into print - March 4, 2010

Download here the latest in the series of occasional ICMCI briefing papers.  As has been explained before these are prepared to help Members, are written as a once off  (that is to say not updated or maintained) and are offered as ideas for members to consider.  any Member can prepare a briefing note, and I would encourage you all to consider doing so as a way of building the sharing community of ICMCI.  So far, all the topics have been of particular interest to those running professional institutes.  The latest is similarly targeted, but of course could be useful to individual consultancies considering their own press practices.

We are convinced that between us we have a coherent and valuable set of messages about management consulting.  However saying them to ourselves has limited impact.  Many Members have professional media specialists and are adept at using the media, especially the print media.  However, many of the smaller Institute's struggle to get media exposure both through the lack of expertise and also through their smaller size gaining less attention.

The attached briefing note has been prepared on the basis of some experiences and from talking to PR specialists.  There are some very simple tips which if followed not only increases the extent of the media coverage, but also the quality obtained.  The tips are offered as suggestions.  The note can not cover every different culture and media arrangement, but it is hoped that all our Members will gain some insights and ideas from the briefing note.  We look forward to hearing of improved media coverage of our professional activities.

Result of voting for ExCom - August 14, 2009

After thorough scrutiny and the approval of the Nominating and Succession Planning Committee I now have the pleasure of being able to present to all of you the final result of the voting process for the new ExCom for 2009 - 2011.

The result is that 49 out of 57 possible ballots have been received in good order before 5 P.M. August 13 and none came in later. 86% is an overwhelming participation which is most satisfactory.

The 9 members of the new ExCom will be:

Chairperson Aneeta Madhok
5 Vice Chairmen Ilse Ennsfellner
  Shin Liat Liew
  Francesco d’Aprile
  Tim Millar
  Calvert Markham
Secretary Mark Nesbitt
Treasurer Rob Wagenaar
Past Chairman Brian Ing

I am most pleased to see a result with members covering virtually all parts of the world and of ICMCI.

Personally I want to convey my best congratulations to those persons elected.
On behalf of ICMCI I thank everybody who has given their ballot for this election. It gives the new ExCom a solid vote of confidence.
And I wish ICMCI a lot of success with this extremely qualified new ExCom!

I am looking forward to meet most of you at the Congress in London in September.

Peter Sorensen

By-law Resolution Vote ResultsJuly 2, 2009

I am pleased to report that the Secretariat has tallied all of the votes received for the recent Resolution to revise the ICMCI by-laws, and the motion has been approved by the required super-majority (two thirds of all Trustees). Of the 54 Trustees eligible to vote, 45 voted in favour of the resolution (83% of the total), 3 voted against the resolution, and 6 Trustees did not register a vote.

As Secretary for ICMCI this term, I thank everyone for their consideration and effort. On behalf of the Governance Task Force that developed the proposal, please accept our appreciation for the strong level of support given to it.

The web site will be updated with the new by-laws in short order. The changes are timely:

• They support the transition to a Swiss Verein organization.
• They allow for regional Institutes, such as the new Caribbean Institute
• They streamline decision processes, allowing for decisions to be taken by a majority   f Trustees participating in a properly constituted meeting
• Explicit reference is included for the first time to the Standing Rules
• ExCom is expanded to include two additional Vice-Chairs
• Committee names and roles have been updated to current practice
• Plus a number of other minor changes

In closing, I look forward to seeing you all in London in September.

Mark Nesbitt

Registration to London Congress open - July 1, 2009

The London Congress has a busy and relevant agenda for the development of the standing of our institutes and the profession world wide.  The details and the booking form are on the ICMCI web site on the "Events" page. You can download the brochure there.

The Congress will provide an even greater opportunity for you to gain from the discussion, and also make contact with your professional colleagues around the world facing similar challenges to yourselves.  Having made new friends, or renewed previous ICMCI relationships, enables dialogues throughout the year.  I suggest that you can not afford to miss this opportunity to build your resources available to support your Institute and profession at home.  And all of this in the centre of one of the most visited capitals of the world in good surroundings with enjoyable events.

Can we urge early booking to ease the task of the organisers, and especially for those requiring visas to start the necessary paperwork.
